In a world where environmental sustainability is no longer just a noble cause but a necessity, Codex is excited to announce our partnership with CloudForests. This collaboration represents a significant step forward in our journey towards environmental responsibility and showcases our dedication to making a positive impact on the planet.

About CloudForests

CloudForests is a pioneering organisation dedicated to reforesting Ireland's Wild Atlantic Way. The West of Ireland boasts a rich and diverse ecosystem, teeming with an incredible array of biodiversity. CloudForests' ambitious mission is to plant 100 forests along Ireland’s West Coast, benefiting the planet, nature, and local communities.

To date, CloudForests has planted over 48,000 trees across counties Kerry and Clare. The organisation also runs a Gift Tree programme and partners with businesses across Ireland, known as CoolPartners.

Why Partner with CloudForests?

The choice to partner with CloudForests was an easy one. Their holistic approach to creating biodiverse woodlands aligns perfectly with our values and our vision for a sustainable future. CloudForests work addresses critical environmental issues such as:

  • Climate Change Mitigation: Forests absorb significant amounts of CO2, helping to combat global warming.
  • Biodiversity Protection: Forests are home to numerous species, and their creation is essential for maintaining global biodiversity.
  • Water Cycle Regulation: Forests play a crucial role in the water cycle, influencing rainfall patterns and providing communities with fresh water.
  • Community Engagement: CloudForests works closely with businesses to ensure that conservation efforts also support sustainable economic development.

Our Commitment to CloudForests and the Planet

Through our partnership, we are committed to supporting CloudForests’ initiatives through:

  • Funding Reforestation Projects: Our financial contributions will directly support the planting of thousands of native trees along the Wild Atlantic Way. Each tree planted helps sequester carbon, restore habitat, and protect biodiversity.
  • Employee Engagement: We are creating opportunities for our employees to get involved in reforestation efforts. Whether through volunteering for tree planting events or participating in awareness campaigns, our team is excited to contribute to this important cause.
  • Sustainable Practices: Beyond our partnership with CloudForests, we are continuously striving to reduce our carbon footprint. From improving energy efficiency in our operations to adopting eco-friendly practices, sustainability is at the core of our business strategy.
  • Raising Awareness: We believe in the power of education and advocacy. Through our communications channels, we will share CloudForests' vital work and the importance of preserving forests.

Looking Ahead

The journey towards environmental sustainability is ongoing, and our partnership with CloudForests marks a significant milestone. By working together, we can achieve greater impact and contribute to a healthier planet for future generations. This collaboration is not just about planting trees; it’s about nurturing a relationship with nature and fostering a deeper understanding of our role in protecting it.

Speaking about the partnership, Codex Green Team Leader Rachel Jackson says:

“Codex completed a comprehensive due diligence exercise on 14 Irish tree planting companies, and Cloudforests came out on top!  We felt the combination of urban and rural forests was a lovely USP.  We also wanted to grow a partnership (no pun intended) rather than just buying trees. The opportunity to engage staff and the wider community, from ground preparation to planting trees and ongoing maintenance, clinched the deal.”

We are incredibly proud to support CloudForests and look forward to the positive changes this partnership will bring. Together, we can make a lasting difference.
