Last week, Dublin hosted the 14th Autism-Europe International Congress, which ran from 11–13 September at the RDS. The landmark event welcomed delegates from over 60 countries, including researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and people with lived experience to share best practices under the theme “Quality of Life – Research, Policy and Practice.”

Over three days, delegates explored the latest research and discussed how to improve the quality of life for Autistic people across Europe. The Congress provided a unique opportunity to connect, learn, and shape the future of inclusivity, reinforcing the importance of creating environments where neurodivergent individuals can thrive.

Codex was proud to be a Platinum Sponsor of the Congress and unveiled something very close to our hearts on the opening day: our brand new neuroinclusion workplace collection, Thrive by Codex x AsIAm.

NEUROINCLUSION IN THE WORKPLACE - LISTENING AND TAKING ACTION

Earlier this year, Codex published the Neuroinclusion in the Workplace report, which highlighted the daily challenges faced by neurodivergent employees: sensitivity to noise and light, navigating communication and social interaction, and managing focus in spaces not always designed with neurodiversity in mind.

These insights guided the development of a new product range in close collaboration with AsIAm, Ireland’s Autism Charity. The aim is to provide employers with practical solutions to help create workplaces where every employee can thrive.

Sensory-Friendly Office Furniture - Thrive Office Range

The collection features 34 autism-friendly, neuroinclusive products, developed and tested in real workplace settings. Key items include:

  • BALANCE BOOTHS – available in two variations, Quiet and Focus. The Quiet Booth is designed to provide a calming retreat from noise and sensory stimulation, while the Focus Booth helps employees concentrate on tasks in a private environment. Both include sensory features such as tactile ridged dots, fresh air ventilation, and coloured lights.

  • PRIVACY SEATING – a range of semi-enclosed seating designed to give employees a quiet, comfortable space to retreat from busy work areas or focus on tasks. Examples include the A11 Chair and the August Nook, which combine acoustic features with ergonomic design to support both concentration and wellbeing in the workplace.

All the products have been endorsed by AsIAm and trialled in real workplaces to ensure they truly meet employees’ needs.

SHOWCASING AT THE CONGRESS

The full range was on display at the Congress, where delegates had the chance to try out the Balance Booths, acoustic seating, and movement-based chairs. Codex’s Furniture and Interiors team members were also on hand to demonstrate the products and answer questions.

“We’re proud and excited to launch this groundbreaking range of neuroinclusive products that will help Irish employers and companies to build truly inclusive workplaces for their employees,” said Patrick Murphy, CEO of Codex and a keynote speaker at the Congress last week.

“The new range was developed in response to our research, which found that many traditional workplace designs and social expectations can create unnecessary barriers for neurodivergent employees. We were also delighted to consult with our partners at AsIAm, who provided real-world insights and experience that helped shape the new product offerings.

We hope these new products will help pave the way for employers and employees to have a positive conversation about workplace inclusivity, starting at the Autism Europe Congress.”

AsIAm CEO Adam Harris praised the collaboration, saying:

“We welcome the launch of Codex’s neuroinclusive workplace range and are proud to have contributed to the development of these products, which are accessible and inclusive by design. It was fitting that the new product range was launched at the 14th International Autism Europe Congress in Dublin.”

SHAPING THE FUTURE OF WORK

The 14th Autism-Europe Congress was all about progress, moving from research and policy into practice that makes a difference. Thrive by Codex x AsIAm is one step in that journey, providing employers with practical tools to design workplaces where all staff can succeed.

We’re excited to see the conversations that begin here, and to continue working with organisations across Ireland and beyond to help create workplaces where everyone can do their best work, just as they are.
