We were delighted to have been approached by one of our long-standing customers, An Garda Síochána, to work on a very special print project that gives a rare glimpse into the lives of the women of An Garda Síochána.

The Women of An Garda Síochána - A reflection on their journeys in Irish policing

The Women of An Garda Síochána - A reflection on their journeys in Irish policing celebrates 64 years since the first-ever women recruits joined the force. The collection of photographs and essays offers a glance into the lives of 120 women in Irish policing, taking readers from the first generation of female gardaí up to the positions of female garda personnel in the modern policing service.

The print team was responsible for this book's full design and print, with the project led by Senior Account Manager Paul Monaghan. He discussed the team's delight in bringing the memoirs and stories of women in Irish policing to print:

“This was a special print project for the Print team at Codex, as we have worked with An Garda Síochána for several years. Capturing their past and present experiences and giving readers an insight into the history of women in Irish policing through print has been a powerful reminder of the women's strength, perseverance, and courage who paved the way for many today. Their stories serve as inspiration for future generations of women in law enforcement."

The book provides insight into the experiences of the early trailblazers who inspired significant numbers of women to follow in their footsteps, detailing those who are instrumental in keeping people safe daily, including the women working at the top ranks of An Garda Síochána.

Their varied stories and journeys are ones of inspiration, devotion, and commitment to policing.

The book, ‘The Women of An Garda Síochána: A reflection on their journey in policing’, was published at Garda Headquarters in February and can be purchased in-store in The Gutter Bookshop or online.
