Codex is delighted to announce its acquisition of family-owned DB Office Supplies to further expand our portfolio of products and services.

As of July 01st 2023, DB Office has been fully integrated into the Codex operation, bringing a wide range of educational furniture products to our catalogue.

Established more than 30 years ago, DB Office has been a leading supplier of office, school, and library furniture, as well as an extensive range of stationery and ancillary products to the Irish market for over three decades. Led by Frank Sutton, DB Office has built a strong reputation among its customers for its vast experience in B2B furnishing.

Over the years, Codex has strategically acquired a number of office supplies businesses. However, DB Office is the company’s first furniture-specific acquisition.

Codex Expands Its Office Products Offering

In an office supplies sector that is experiencing limited growth, Codex is bucking the trend with a year-on-year increase in sales of some 30% during 2022.

Furniture is a key driver of Codex’s growth, and by acquiring the hugely respected DB Office, Codex can offer customers an even broader range of office products and services. This strengthens our fully integrated office fit-out service, a valuable offering to companies transitioning to a hybrid working environment.

As part of the acquisition, DB Office management will join Codex to ensure continuity of service for existing customers – a key element of Codex’s customer-first strategy

DB Office Joins Codex in Latest Acquisition

The acquisition of DB Office is expected to create several job opportunities over the coming months, with Codex looking to recruit additional product specialists, fitters, and installers to meet demand.

Codex CEO Patrick Murphy expressed his delight in welcoming DB Office to the Codex family and shares how the company’s latest acquisition aligns with Codex’s growth strategy, saying:

“We are really happy to be joining forces with DB Office, a company that has stood out for us over many years. They are a perfect fit and a key part of our growth strategy as we look to expand in areas beyond the traditional office supplies market, while their unrivalled industry knowledge and 30 years of supply chain management will accelerate our growth in the B2B furniture sector.

Codex is a positive outlier in the office supplies sector, with our year-on-year sales up by 30% in 2022. Our furniture business is driving much of that growth – a clear sign that offices and workplaces are going through a major transformation in the hybrid working environment.

We’re delighted that DB Office is joining the Codex family, and we look forward to welcoming our new colleagues to one of Ireland’s Best Workplaces™”.

Frank Sutton, Managing Director of DB Office, echoed these positive sentiments:

"We’re excited to have teamed up with Codex and are looking forward to being part of Ireland’s leading office supplier. Our expertise in office and educational furniture will help to drive the business into new markets while leveraging its expertise in the field.”
