Empowering Talent: Mariia’s Internship Experience at Codex

This summer, Codex had the pleasure of welcoming Mariia Skrypnyk to our team as part of the DCU Access to the Workplace programme. The initiative, run by Dublin City University, offers professional, fully paid summer internships to DCU Access students - talented individuals who have overcome social and economic barriers to pursue third-level education.
As a proud participant in the DCU Access Programme, Codex ensures students gain meaningful, hands-on experience in a real business environment. We design internship placements that expose participants to various departments and responsibilities, helping them build professional skills, confidence, and industry connections.
Mariia quickly became an integral part of our team, contributing to projects that spanned marketing, HR, finance, and operations. Her creativity, adaptability, and willingness to learn shone through in every task.
Reflecting on her time here, Mariia shared:
“During my internship at Codex, I worked on a range of projects. For example, I created the World Environment Day blog, infographics for social media, and the National Diversity and Inclusion Day blog, which helped to boost audience engagement.
Engaging social media posts for the Neuroinclusive Experts Session helped our audience connect with the event. In collaboration with HR, I coordinated tasks across departments to keep people operations running smoothly and assisted with our Great Place to Work programme.
On the finance side, I posted invoices to ensure our accounting workflows stayed accurate and gained valuable insights into the business's financial operations. I used AI tools to assist with initial, first-tier analysis of our Planet Mark certification analysis in Excel, which cut processing time and improved accuracy.
I also led a vendor onboarding project to improve supplier compliance and certificate management through AI-based automation for document processing and expiry date tracking. While in marketing, I conducted a SWOT analysis of our social media presence to guide our next strategic steps.”
Mariia’s contribution over the summer was impressive, and her work will continue to have a lasting impact on our marketing, compliance, and operational processes.
Sharing her thoughts on Mariia’s time with Codex, our Head of People & Culture, Aisling Murray, spoke about the impact she made during her placement:
“Mariia really hit the ground running and has made a big impact across a multitude of projects in a short space of time at Codex. She was curious, creative, and always ready to take on a challenge. Mariia is a super representation of the talent and potential that the DCU Access programme supports."
We wish Mariia the very best in her future endeavours, and we know she’ll go far.
